This tranquil and serene bedroom was designed by Tristan Harstan who drew influence from writer and fashion designer Pauline de Rothschild. “[Her] desire to create a ‘refuge of beauty’ to escape the demands of daily life, and her love for chinoiserie, is akin to my own design sensibility,” Harstan says.
The room has a calming color palette of blues, from pale blue grasscloth from Ainsworth-Noah on the walls to a blue-painted ceiling in the sitting room (Sherwin-Williams Rainwashed). The room unites the tones of rain clouds, water, stone, with “my love of Swedish and French furniture, chinoiserie, exotic birds and collected treasures that appeal to the eye,” says Harstan. –Claire Ruhlin
