Fall Fashion Trends for 2015

What You’ll Be Seeing This Fall

Dressing up is simply more fun in the fall — you can make a fashion statement in many ways — and the trends for Fall 2015 point to good times and a new vitality, with a bit of retro flavor. Think coats, jackets and cover ups. Think layering. Think warm toes! Whatever your personal style, BuyerSelect will help you pull from the best designers and put together a personal look that suits you and is totally fashion-forward.
Whatever your fall schedule has in store — career building, home tending, or a round of renewed volunteer activities and social commitments, you’ll want to focus on the “grown up” you. Dresses are very much in the picture for fall!
But you don’t have to abandon the whimsical and playful part of your personality. Look at what’s in store:

Chunky Sweaters
Wrap yourself in luxury – there’s something about a giant luxe sweater or cardigan that brings a sense of warmth on a crisp fall day. Designers are providing tons of options this season for big comfy sweaters. Soft and sumptuous in a variety of textures and weights, cashmere elevates casual essentials and accessories. Keep it close-knit in free-spirited layers with effortless finishing touches. Take fall on like a pro by balancing with a slimmer silhouette on bottom, and pair with a gorgeous pair of boots and hat.

Urban Outfitters Sweater

An updated classic cable sweater by UO’s very own BDG brand. Soft cable knit is cut in an oversized style for a relaxed feel and features contrasting jersey-finished elbow patches. Topped with a crewneck and completed with ribbed hems throughout.

Long or short, spunky or flirty, solid or patterned, with assymetrical hems or flouncy skirts. This is personality dressing at its best. Suit yourself, but do it with dresses this fall. Pleats are in for the season — loose and comfortable, the kind that move with you when you walk and that allow you to curl up on the couch and cover your legs. Looser, larger tops look great with pleats, too, and rate an “A” for comfort and warmth.
Ribbed knits are tops on the warm and cozy list as well — as practical for wearing to the office as for hopping on an airplane.
Also, plan to pair a favorite comfy dress with a favorite pair of skinny jeans — that’s fall layering with a twist!

Is there anyone who can face autumn without at least one new pair of boots?
While your choices range from practical to trendy, there are several you might consider “must haves.”
Sleek, pretty leather boots in a mid-calf height will look great with longer skirts for daytime or professional wear.
Black “stompin” boots are good for kicking leaves or walking in the snow.
Leg-hugging tall boots — the taller the better, if you can wear them — are super trendy!

Put fur at your feet — and we don’t mean for at-home slippers. You may laugh, but you’ll be seeing “fur-feet” around town this fall, on shoes as well as boots. Just remember that a little fur goes a long way.

Fall’s best colors have the quiet appeal of a long walk in the woods. The hues of a forest glen, with mossy greens, mushroom, russet, pumpkin and spiced cider, as well as vibrant combinations of spicy earth tones — these lead the fashion palette for the coming season. It’s a natural, easy to love scheme designed to complement rather than compete with your favorite blacks and whites.
Pair these 70s tones with screaming yellow, brilliant turquoise and deep purple for a zingy interpretation. Add some pale pink and sky blue to the mix of soothing brown tones. Have fun with fashion!
Black is still very much in vogue — did it ever really go away? This season, however, it’s back in spades — all black is edgy. But add a variety of textures to be totally up to date with the trend! For evening, you can’t beat black lace. If the lingerie look is not your choice, be sure to at least include some lace accents in your closet. Know that lace this fall isn’t only for evening, though.
You’ll also want to include some winter whites in your fall mix to have ready when the first snowflakes fall. It’s the newest: Be there!

Buttons, Belts and Bling
Designers chose buttons as favored accents this season. Not the vintage favorites from Grandma’s button box, but oversize contrasting attention-grabbers on everything from business suits to leisure ware. Look for black buttons on colored jackets, pearl buttons on black slacks, and glittery buttons on silk blouses.
Belts are a go-to choice, cinching in everything from coats to long sweaters, and making an appearance to top off skirts and slacks or to accentuate a dress with contrasting color or a jolt of texture. You’ll also see some shine and glitter featured to accentuate an hourglass shape. Be bold in this department.
As far as bling — there’s just no such thing as too much, is there? Feminine shapes and sparkle are back this fall, with dangling earrings and jewel-encrusted rings. Brooches and hair clips are in evidence again; it’s a look you can embrace for everything from daytime suits to evening gowns. Shimmer and metallics are also big on bags, belts and even shoes.

Just for Fun
Capes of all sizes and styles are the look for fall. If you live in a climate that allows it, you might just substitute a flowing cape for a winter coat, but even if your climate demands more warmth as the seasons change, try to include at least one classy cape in your fall lineup. Think about a knitted cape to ward off interior chills, or snap up a fringed blanket version for outdoor excursions with the kids.
Faux fur, from jacket collars to full-length coats, from color-saturated versions to dramatic footwear, from subdued to outrageous is a must. Buy fun fur this fall and love it all winter long!
Some other things to look for and snap up? Plaids, patchwork and pattern. Silky and soft scarves and neck wraps. Bags that go with everything, but don’t necessarily match anything! Oh, and big sunglasses are back.
